In 1998 the world remembers one of the most imposing women in all history: 100 years ago, on September 10th 1898, Austria's Empress Elisabeth was murdered in Geneva. "Sisi" as this extravagant, intelligent woman was - and is - fondly called by millions of people, was decades ahead of her time. Even though the Schönbrunn Palace and the Hofburg Court Castle in Vienna were her homes, Austria's Empress remained in contact with all classes of her people. This film shows her life beginning with the fabulous marriage, all important stations, all the palaces she was living in. The tragic death of her son. Caused by her restlessness the numberlesss journeys. Queen Victoria of England gave her for long periods her own yacht. "Sisi" spent a lot of time in England for her passion: riding. And finally her own tragic end - and the begin of the myth "Sisi"... |
