Monastery Lambach
|
|
Settled on a rock over the Traun-river, the monastery Lambach dominates the surroundings. The Benedictine Convent at the Traun river has become famous for its mural frescos discovered in 1868. Painted in late ottonic-byzantine-stile, the remarkable paintings narrate in splendid colours the story of Epiphania, the flash of the divine light. The frescos are one of the most important Eurpean works of art from the 11th century.
